Happy new year lovelies! I am glad to be back to share a little bit of my 2017 reflections and 2018 goals.
I HAD A CRAZY YEAR. (I got very little sleep.) LOTS of things changed in my life.
I had this crazy feeling at the end of 2016 that I needed to do something about my life. Something serious. Something drastic. Something like leaving the corporate world behind and perusing something different.
So what did I do? Well, I quit my job to become an elementary school teacher of course!
That meant studying for exams while having a full-time job, getting into an alternative certification program, teaching summer school, and getting a full-time position by the end of July.
IT WAS ROUGH.
I let my emotional health slide. I stopped working out. I stopped hanging out with my friends. I was incredibly stressed, but I did it! It was worth it all to be in a job that I care about. Where I feel like I am making a difference and I can grow.
The most important thing I learned in 2017 was to remember to take care of myself. I bought myself a pretty ring as a symbol of my commitment to my emotional well being. Now every time I look at it I remember it is okay to take a step back and breath!
So in 2018, I will be doing just that! My overall goal for the year is to be happy. To breath and uphold the commitment I made to myself in the middle of that panic attack I had in October. I will NOT let myself become that overwhelmed again. However, breath is not a resolution. So I broke it down into four resolutions. My goal is to master one resolution per quarter. I purposely planned the quarter I will be mastering each one and how they will complement each other to help me reach my overall goal.
I will be sharing in-depth on each one as the year progresses!
Soooo Here they are! My 2018 resolutions (my game plan to make 2018 my HAPPIEST year yet!)
- Q1 (January – March) Be intentional about my health
- eat right, get moving, relax, and spend time with people I love most.
- Q2 (April – June) Be invested in my hobbies
- embroider more often, photograph more families, conquer Netflix.
- Q3 (July – September) Be a tourist
- Find the best local spots, take the road less traveled and make sure to Instagram it.
- Q4 (October – December) Be a master at budgeting
- Stop spending all my money at Target, get out of debt, find a way to give back.
I would love to hear what your 2017 reflections and 2018 goals are this year and if we have any in common! Please let me know in the comments what yours are! I love hearing from you and what you want from this little slice of the internet that I call Ready Set Chic.
