Happy summer lovelies! We are off to a very temperamental summer here in Texas. It has been raining AND nearly 100 degrees, but that is all okay now because it is Fourth of July weekend!
I love holidays. I love holidays that include fireworks just a little more than the rest.
Coming together with friends and family is my favorite part of any holiday. As such, I strongly believe it is essential to have a few things on hand to be able to host within a short notice.
Here are the ways I make sure I can be a great hostess on a short notice.
Tip #1: A full belly is a happy belly.
I am that person at the grocery store that looks like they are prepping for the worst winter storm to hit Texas. I must have it all. Our pantry and freezer are always overflowing with snacks, and things that can be prepped in just a couple of minutes, or popped into the oven. I just feel terrible if someone makes time to visit with me and I don’t have something to feed them.
Keeping ground meat and an icebox cake is such an easy way to have something yummy to eat within 30 minutes. The lovely boyfriend whipped up those little sliders (and mini hotdogs) in no time. Defrost when you know people are heading over, then grab a couple of drinks, and your friends to mingle while you grill.
Tip #2: Always have a bottle of bubbly ready.
I currently have five “just in case” bottles of champagne on my bar cart. I like to be able to offer my guests something to drink as soon as they come through the door. While we do keep a well stocked home bar, it is not always convenient to make individual cocktails. For the times that I want to entertain without the hassle I bring out the bubbly. Nobody can resist a glass, and it makes you feel fancy AF.
You can do so many simple things with champagne. I like to grab a couple of popsicles and just pour the bubbly right over them.
Tip #3: Have something to do!
Maybe it is just me, but I don’t like waiting around trying to think of things to do once I am already with my friends. Being that I am very type A, I like to plan things ahead of time. (Even if that only gives me five minutes.) Having a stockpile of party games, a bluetooth speaker, or access to a pool can liven up the party and avoid guest boredom.
I like to keep games such as Jenga, and Cards Against Humanity ready. However, in the summer we head to the pool because we live in Texas and its hot hot hot.
I hope you all have a lovely three day weekend, and that these tips have helped you.
We will be celebrating all weekend long with brunches, pool parties, and various fireworks displays around Dallas.
How will you be celebrating? What are your easy entertaining tips? Let me know in the comments!
